Obituary of William BREDDE

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bill was born on the Quechan Indian reservation in Winterhaven Ca. His father being of the Quechan Tribe, his mother of the Pawnee Indian Tribe of Oklahoma. At three years of age, the family moved to Skedee Community in Oklahoma where he would soon embark on a successful football career. It was his years at Pawnee High he would meet his two life long friends. Bills recognition for speed and hard-hitting techniques in football would land him a scholarship at Oklahoma A&M; Now Oklahoma State. It was here he set several still undefeated records. His excellence in football would take Bill into his professional football career with Chicago Cardinals. Induction into the North West College Hall of Fame and the nomination to the Native American Sports were only a few of the great successes Bill would achieve. After football, Bill went in to service with the Army. Upon an Honorable Discharge from the service, Bill then went on to Alaska where he became an Naïve American Counselor. The next ventures would bring him to Phoenix, Arizona where he would meet the love of his life. Bill and Jackie set off on many ventures ultimately landing them in Kingman in 1988. It was then they purchased both the Smokehouse and Longbranch Saloon. They were the proprietors of these properties for many years. It was in 2000 that Bill's health would lead them to retire from business. The existence of the Longbranch would retire as well. Thus began Bill's long-hard-fought battle against Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (Cancer) and Congestive Heart Failure. It is with great love, respect, devotion and admiration for Bill, that we regret to announce his defeated battle. We will always remember his devotion and support to AA, his wisdom, his perspective, of life as well as his empowering sense of humor. The Bredde family knows Bill has touched many lives throughout the community, be it from the Smokehouse, the Longbranch, AA Support, or just Bill himself. The family will hold a memorial service for all those who would like the opportunity to pay last respects and best wishes. This service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday September 24th 2006 at the Elk's Lodge located at 900 Gates Avenue in Kingman. Messages may also be left for the family at Lietz-Frazefuneralhome.com. In conclusion, Bills life long friend has offered his wishes we would like to convey:So now Bill, wherever you are, these are my wishes for you: May the snap count be crisp in your ear. May the ball be tight to your chest. May the off tackle slot open clearly before you. May your cleats hold firmly in the turf. And, as you cross that final goal line, may the roar of the crowd stay with you forever.Good Bye Old Friend!
