Obituary of Herbert BRUNKHORST

Herbert Henry Brunkhorst, 74, passed away October 22, 2006 in Williams, AZ. He was born to Henry and Katerina Cordes-Brunkhorst on August 16, 1932 in New York City, NY.Shortly following graduation, Herb joined the Navy Reserve and was called to active duty. Herb proudly served his country aboard the USS Antietam and was honorably discharged as a Machinist's Mate. He worked for the City of New York as a Stationary Engineer for 42 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 81 and VFW Post 9401. Herb enjoyed hunting, traveling, camping and was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed his weekly poker games with his friends at Munds Park, a place where Herb and Sue summered for the past 8 years. Herb never forgot his German roots and was a proud American. Herb's greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.Herb is survived by his beloved wife, Sue-Merrill Brunkhorst of Lake Havasu; children, Kathylyn Mary Brunkhorst Beck of New Mexico, Karen Marie Brunkhorst Cherry of New York, Kurt Gerard Brunkhorst of Maryland and John Michael Anderson of Connecticut; seven grandchildren, Bonnie Lyn, Katelynn, Kimberly, Kristin, Kelly Ann, Alexander and Katherine.He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Anita Moderno.A visitation will be held Thursday, October 26, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 27, 2006, 2:00 PM at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. The BPOE #2399 will conduct the Lodge of Sorrows service.
