John David Poppen, 70, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2006 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born on October 19, 1936 in Los Angeles, CA; to John R. and Mildred R. (McCord) Poppen.John moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; 15 year ago from Simi Valley, CA. He worked as a salesman for Gallo Wine Co; in Modesto, CA; for 10 years. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Colorado River Life Member Club of the Telephone Pioneers. He loved animals and spent a lot of time rehabilitating them. John is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Sharon A. Poppen, sons, Michael Poppen of Pemperton, BC, Canada; Richard Poppen of Hawaii, daughter Linda Hebert of Pleasanton, CA; step-son Robert Brooks of Hayward, CA; step-daughter Kimberly Mann of Pleasanton, CA; sister Nancy Delladio of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren Tyson, Alex, Travis, Hailey, Nicholas, and his best friend of 19 years, Murphy.Donations can be made in John's name to Sulphur Creek Nature Center, 1801 "D" St; Hayward, CA; 94541.Condolences and thoughts can be made to his family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
