Frank Basile, 92, passed away peacefully in Lake Havasu City, AZ; on Tuesday, October 24, 2006. He was born on March 5, 1914 in Satriano, Calabria, Italy. Frank grew up in Astoria, New York and Newark, New Jersey. He graduated from Barringer High School in Newark, NJ; and the R.C.A. Institute in New York City, NY. Frank proudly served in the U.S. Army in Africa and Italy during World War II as an interpreter. After his discharge, he worked for Westinghouse and Griffith Electronics and moved west when Griffith relocated in the late 1960's. Frank moved to Tucson, AZ; in 1969. He married his beloved wife of over 30 years, Elizabeth in Tucson, AZ; where they owned and operated "Frank's Restaurant" for 5 years. They moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; 27 years ago.Frank loved playing Pinochle and going to the casinos. He also enjoyed gardening, bowling, golfing and was a member of the American Legion Post 81.Frank is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth, daughter Susan Harris, husband Jerry and grandson "M.J." Harris all of Rancho Santa Fe, CA; brothers, Anthony Basile of Jupiter, FL; John Basile of Waitsfield, VT; sister Mary Ariola of Pacific Palisades, CA; step-sons, David Ray of Payson AZ; Samuel Ray of Gold Canyon, AZ; Gary Ray of Thornton, CO; Ronald Ray of Show Low, AZ; Mark Ray of Lake Havasu City, AZ; 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and a total of 10 nieces and nephews.Frank was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.Condolences and thoughts can be made to his family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
