GLORIA M. MCFARLANE, VANVALKENBURG, MERSHONJune 23, 1929-November 13, 2006 Gloria M. McFarlane, Van-Valkenburg, Mershon, age 77, a long time Skagit County resident, passed away Monday, November 13, 2006 in Dolansprings, Arizona.Gloria was born June 23, 1929 to Sam to Melvina McFarlane of LaConner, WA. She graduated from LaConner High School in 1947. She was united in marriage to John R. "Bob" VanValkenburg on November 26, 1948.She is survived by husband, John Mershon of Dolansprings, AZ; her two sons, Steven Van-Valkenburg and wife Lucinda of Arlington, WA; David Van-Valkenburg and wife Virginia of Sedro-Woolley, WA; brothers, Eugene McFarlane and wife Joyce of Seattle, WA; Leo McFarlane and wife Judy of East Wenatchee, WA; grandchildren, Shawn Parris and husband Darrell of Sedro-Woolley, WA; Shad Waite and wife Sarah of Bellingham, WA; Marcie Ozaki and husband Toby of Sedro-Woolley, WA; SSGT. Scott VanValkenburg and wife SGT. Jackie VanValkenburg, US Army, John VanValkenburg and wife Kristen of Mount Vernon, WA; Tyler VanValkenburg of Alger, WA and 6 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.Gloria was an active member of the Grange, the Morgan Horse Assoc., a member of the Skagit Valley Riding Club, a long time member of Business Professional Women and a member of the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church.Gloria was full of life and personality and some would say she never met a stranger. She had a tremendous love of family and animals. She had a multitude of friends and family who loved her greatly; she will be missed.No memorial service planned.
