-Melvin R. Chandler passed very unexpectedly on 4 October 2013. Mel was born in Brawley, CA to Warren Chandler and Alberta Ming. Spending his younger years in the North Long Beach area. He went back to the Imperial Valley to work on his Aunt and Uncle, Mary & Blaine Smith's farm, of which he had many fond memories.
While living with his Aunt and Uncle Hilda and Lyman Monroe, he graduated from High School in El Centro, Ca. He was also highly motivated by his Aunt and Uncle, Walter and Jean Ming of El Centro.
Many fun stories came from those years.
He worked in sheet metal in his younger years. Joining the Boilermaker Union local 92 of which he worked the last 20 years before retirement.
Mel is survived by his wife Linda of 40 years. His Daughter Bamby Wallingford (Randy), Santee, CA - Son Jason Chandler (Celeste) Div., California. Mel was very proud; two of his grandchildren were serving in the Army and Navy.
His enjoyment the last years was following his wife around in the desert and doing anything with his grandchildren. Football, cheer practice, wrestling kept him busy traveling back and forth to Kingman. Just the mention of his grandchildren brightened his day.
Mel loved to cook making many memorable meals.
