DONALD WELLESLEY DANCERDonald Wellesley Dancer, 87, died Thursday November 23 2006 at Havasu Regional Medical Center. He was born July 8, 1919 in Covina, California to Robert E. and Edith (Cuddeback) Dancer. Don Married Dorothy Moore on September 28, 1947 in Las Vegas, Nevada.He served in the Coast Guard during World War II on the West Coast. He retired from Pacific Bell in El Monte, California after 33 years of service. He had a commercial pilot's license. He and his wife found Lake Havasu in 1952. From that point on, they came back every year. After Retiring, they returned as winter visitors.A descendant of one of El Monte, California's pioneer families, Don was active in community events during his residence in California. In 1968 he was honored as one of El Monte's Distinguished Citizens for that year. That same year, he earned Pacific Telephone's Community Service Award. Don was a past president of South El Monte Industrial Lions and past president of El Monte-South El Monte United Way and former campaign manager of the El Monte-South El Monte Crusade. He also served as executive chairman and charter president of the Friendly El Monte Pageant Association, and chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Legislative Committee. He was also the charter president of the El Monte Sister City Committee.He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dancer; his son, Donn Alan Dancer; his three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.There will be no memorial services.
