Mary Rebekah Sheppard Sutton, age 26, died suddenly Tuesday, January 2,2007 at Havasu Regional Medical Center from anaphylactic shock.Rebekah was born on November 15, 1980, in Subic Bay, Philippines. She was adopted by Vic and Bettye Sheppard and came to the States when she was 2 years old. She loved living in California and New Jersey while her father was in the US Navy, but grew up mainly in Evansville, Indiana where she was the all-American kid. She graduated from FJ Reitz High School where she played two instruments in the marching band, was a member of the student council, a class officer and in National Honor Society. Being athletic, Rebekah excelled in varsity tennis, softball, basketball and enjoyed soccer and volleyball. During her free time, Rebekah worked part time, was an Explorer Scout and volunteered as a Candy Striper at Welborn Memorial Hospital.Rebekah attended Indiana University her freshman year and received her B.A. degrees in Telecommunications and French from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana in 2003. During her college years she worked part time and spent many hours doing Campus Radio Broadcasts. She interned for Murphy Broadcasting/Mad Dog Wireless the summer of 2002 in Lake Havasu. During that time she covered the town council meetings in Kingman and worked with local news. Upon graduation in 2003, Rebekah permanently moved to Lake Havasu and became employed by Cameron Broadcasting. Many residents grew to love her as "Bekah" on the Morning Show with Double J and Chris Want. She was currently the Production Manager at Murphy Broadcasting. She love interacting with the community and meeting people as she did remotes for the station and was heard throughout the community doing commercials for a variety of companies and organizations. The following is quoted from the Friday, January 5, 2007, Tri-State News Network: "Rebekah was valued for her personality and friendship as much as for her talented skills. She was warm, intelligent, and very funny. Rebekah was a welcoming pleasure for commercial clients, seeking a creative, resourceful approach to achieve their advertising goals. She was also a valued friend with a strong shoulder to lean on and an unforgettable smile always ready to make things better. Everyone who knew Rebekah liked her. It was simply impossible not to feel that way about her. She was a totally good person-reliable, steadfast, yet witty and always approachable. She will be greatly missed by all."Above everything, family was the center of Rebekah's heart. She was a devoted daughter, a loving wife and a caring nurturing mother. Her friends and co-workers were her family too. Rebekah's personal motto was "Never let it rest until your good is better than your best". She was truly a unique and dynamic young woman who made a difference in the lives of those who were fortunate to have known and loved her.Rebekah is survived by husband Justin Michael Sutton and two year old daughter Taylor Raine Sutton, of Lake Havasu; parents Bettye and Vic Sheppard, of Lake Havasu; sister Jennifer Lyn Sheppard of Lake Havasu; nephew Justin Hyde and niece Mary Elizabeth Gunterson of Evansville, Indiana; grandparents Robert and Mary Lou (whom Rebekah was named for) Watson of Evansville, Indiana; aunts, uncles and cousins. The community is invited to share in a Memorial Celebration of Life for Rebekah at 2:00pm Sunday, January 14, 2007 at the London Bridge Resort's King Arthur Room.
