Obituary of John GATES

Dr. John Orie Gates passed away on Friday January 12, 2007, in Las Vegas, Nevada. John was born November 1, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois to Dr. Orie John Gates and Golden W. Gates of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. John was a 1945 graduate of Northwestern Dental School in Chicago, Illinois, and practiced dentistry in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin until 1981 when the family moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Dr. Gates served as Private First Class in the Army Specialized Training Program from June 1943 to September 1944. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1953.He was a member of the American Dental Association; Wisconsin State Dental Association; Jefferson County Dental Society, Elks Lodge # 2399 in Lake Havasu City, AZ; and The Retired Officers Association.Dr. Gates is survived by his beloved wife Phyllis Anderson Gates of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; son Robert James Gates, daughter-in-law Annette, and granddaughter Emily Jean Fates, all of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin; daughter-in-law Meralda Gates and grandson Andrew J. Gates of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister-in-law Elsa Hedberg of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; and nieces Jane Fossum and Ann Lueder of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin.He was predeceased in 1989 by wife Jean Hedberg Gates; 1958 by son Gary John Gates; 1978 by son Todd William Gates; 1927 by brother James C. Gates; 1960 by mother Golden W. Gates; 1967 by father Orie John Gates; and 1998 by wife Ann Delphine Carter.Memorial services will be held Friday, January 19 at 2:00 PM at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home Chapel, 21 Riviera Blvd., Lake Havasu City.
