Obituary of George FRIEND

George M. Friend, 94, passed away February 16, 2007 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He resided at Prestige Assisted Living on Smoketree Ave. He was born to George and Melia Lee (Pearson) Friend on June 12, 1912 in Sardis, MS.George was raised in Anaconda, MT. He graduated from High School in 1930. His hobbies were music; he was an accomplished saxophonist and clarinetist. In the early thirties he played in several bands of that era.George was a past member of the Elks and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. He worked for the Santa Fe Railway in California and retired in 1975. During his 35 year railroad career, he worked as a switchman and a yardmaster.George is survived by his two sons, Dr. Bruce A. Friend (Sherry) of Lake Havasu City and Lawrence M. Friend (Grace) of The Dalles, OR; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by a close relative, Jeanette Friend Pope and daughter Ann Bogut of Deerlodge, MT.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Essie Friend and his third son, George Loren Friend who preceded him in death in 1998.No services are planned and cremation will take place.
