Hurley A. Holley Jr. (known to all as Al) passed away peacefully at home Monday, March 5, 2007 of heart failure.Al was born in Bentonville, Arkansas to Ora Ethel Holley and Hurley A. Holley Sr. on June 29, 1919. They moved to Los Angeles, California when Al was 9 years old. They traveled by car and took the southern route which took them over the wooden road over the sand dunes outside of Yuma, AZ.Al worked in California in aerospace which included the Mars Mission. He was a Manufacturing Engineer and Design Chief. He moved to Lake Havasu in 1968 working at Vernco Corp, Lake Havasu Marina, and McCulloch Corp where he retired in 1981. He traveled with his wife for many years exploring Arizona's little known places with their travel trailer and boat.Al was best known in Lake Havasu for his culinary skills. He would often receive calls for advice on preparing a unique creation for a special event.Al would have received his 30 year Elks award this year.He is survived by his wife, Patti, of 35 years; sons, Harry Holley of Northern, CA, Glenn Holley of Pismo Beach, CA; Daughters, Diana Kendall of Twenty Nine Palms, CA, Christine Janish of Denver, CO, Angela McGovern of Burleson, TX; Son, Scott Holley of Fife, WA; 14 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren.Al has willed his body to science and when we receive his remains back we will decide the time and place for a memorial gathering. He brought sunshine and flowers into our lives.
