Mr. Norman Charles Rider died March 16, 2007 while visiting in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Mr. Rider was born November 30, 1919 in Detroit, MI. The son of Andrew Hugo Rider and Anna Bantle Rider, he was one of seven children.He attended Cass Tech and Eastern High School. He worked primarily in the truck manufacturing business writing service literature. In 1942 he married Katherine Weaver and this marriage produced three children. In 1959 the family moved to San Jose, CA where Norman took a job as chief technical writer at the FMC Corp. In 1970 he and Katherine were divorced. In 1974 he married co-worker Janette Wilber and they worked together until their retirement in 1984. Upon retirement they decided to settle in Delanson, NY, Janette's home town.They were both active in Duanesburg Senior Citizens for many years. Norman was president for 8 years. Norman was an opera and drama lover. He contributed to the Metropolitan Opera Guild, Glimmerglass Opera Co. and the Shaw Festival.Norman is survived by his wife, Janette of Delanson, NY; brother, Russell Rider of Grosse Pointe, MI; from his first marriage his daughters, Elizabeth Courtney of Vancouver, B.C. and Diana Dickson of Toronto, Ontario and his son, James Rider of Vancouver, B.C. Also his grandchildren, Kelly and Kenny Courtney of Vancouver, B.C., Allan and Brian Dickson of Toronto, Ontario and two great grandchildren, Gareth and Nicholas Gren of Vancouver, B.C. From Mr. Rider's second marriage to Janette Wilber, he is survived by Charles Wilber of Delanson, NY, Breck Wilber of Gig Harbor, WA, Luanne Gibson of Heath, OH and Beverly Moyle of Gridley, CA and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.A memorial service will be held at a later date in Delanson.Thoughts and condolences may be submitted to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
