Arizona Pioneer Helen Daniels 1909 - 2007Helen Frances Daniels, age 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 19, 2007 atter a long career of teaching and many active years in Fraternal organizations..Helen was born to Bessie and Edwin Moore in Phoenix 3 years before Arizona became a state. Helen graduated from Arizona State College and earned her Masters Degree from Greeley College in Colorado.In 1950 Helen married Arthur Daniels of West Covina, CA. She continued to work as a curriculum supervisor in California and later taught at La Verne College.In 1958, Helen and Arthur Daniels moved to Parker, Arizona where they created Castle Rock Shores Mobile Home Park along the Parker strip. In 1970 Art and Helen moved to Lake Havasu City where Helen took enrichment classes at the local College. In 2004 Helen Daniels was recognized by MCC with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Helen is an accomplished artist with oil paints as her media. Her work has hung in a Santa Barbara Gallery and at the community college art shows as well as in the homes of her many friends and family.Mrs. Daniels was very active in Eastern Star in Parker where she served as Worthy Matron of the Moovalya Chapter and was honored as the Golden Angel of Arizona in 1998 for her many contributions to the Order. Helen served her husband, Arthur as his "coach" and speech write for Arthur's term as Worthy Grand Patron of OES, State of Arizona.Helen was asked to become a P.E.O. when Chapter DJ was chartered as the 114th Chapter in Arizona. Helen served as President when she was 91. Helen further enjoyed the Red Hat Society and AAUW. Helen remained active in her organizations and art classes until the day she fell. She lived a very full life.She is survived by daughter, Jayne Harasty and her husband, Walt of Solvang, CA, by her son Richard Daniels of Lake Havasu; grandchildren Sharon Guest of Sierra Vista, Valerie Scoggin of Blue Lake, CA, Daniel Harasty of Camarillo, Kirk Daniels of Parker and Kim Daniels Williams of Newbery Park, CA. Helen has 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grand sons.A memorial service is being planned for Sunday, April 1 at 1 :00 at the Masonic Temple in Lake Havasu City. The Graveside memorial is planned for 1:00 on Sunday, March 25th at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora, CA.Thoughts and condolences may be submitted to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com
