Malinda L. Mays-Ball, our beloved Mother and Granny went peacefully to be with her Lord on March 20, 2007. She was 97. Malinda was born in Bruno, AR, the second child of eight, and eldest daughter of Joseph and Arizona McEntire.In the late 1930's Malinda came to California and settled in the Hanford area where she raised her daughter Jewel (Mickey); her son Joe, and where her daughter Linda was born. With a strong will, boundless energy, and unfailing faith, Malinda established a good life for her family and built a successful business as one of the first women in the health insurance field.In the late 1950's Malinda moved to the Pajaro Valley where she continued in insurance, bought real estate, and adopted her daughter Julie. It was on the coast that she met and married her late husband, Chester Ball. They moved their home to Lake Havasu City, AZ in 1987. Chester passed away in 1997. In 1999, Malinda moved to Bakersfield to be near her son Joe and his family.She is survived by her baby sister Walcie Mae Brown of Albuquerque, NM; son Joe (Marie) Mays of Bakersfield, CA; daughters, Linda (Tommy) Reachert of Lake Havasu and Julie Campbell of Denair, CA; son-in-law Edward Pfau of Lake Havasu; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.In addition to her husband, Malinda was preceded in death by her daughter, Jewel (Mickey) Pfau.Malinda leaves behind a multitude of friends and loved ones to celebrate her life.A service will be held Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home in Lake Havasu City, AZDonations may be made to Hospice of Havasu, PO Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.Thoughts and condolences may be submitted to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
