Rex Milton Stewart passed away on March 28, 2007, at his Lake Havasu City home. He was 82. Rex was born on May 3, 1924, to John and Dora Stewart in Lansing, Kan. He met the love of his life, Lavinia Ann Smith, while attending high school in Lansing, Kan. Rex and Ann were married on March 6, 1944, in Olympia, Wash.Rex served in the Army Air Forces in the Philippines during World War II.A gifted public speaker, he enjoyed success as a radio sports broadcaster before beginning a long and distinguished career with the Federal Aviation Administration. His final assignment with the FAA was as liaison to the military at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Va.Rex and Ann moved to Lake Havasu in 1977.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack and Myron; and two sisters, June Coons and Beverly Hinde.In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is survived by a daughter, Susan LeCou, of Lake Havasu; sons James and his wife, Gretchen, of Zionsville, Ind., and Wayne and his wife, Sherry, of Topeka, Kan; grandchildren Kristen Stewart, of Noblesville, Ind., Andrew and Alexandra Stewart, of Zionsville, Ind., Laura Stewart, of Topeka, Kan, and Patrick LeCou, of Riverside, Calif.; and sister Geneva Louise McCarbrey, of Leavenworth, Kan.Donations can be made in his name at the Lansing Historical Society, 115 E.
