Obituary of John MARTHINSSON

John Arne Marthinsson passed away peacefully on June 21st 2007 in Lake Havasu City Arizona. He was born on February 17th, 1932 in Bergen Norway to Solvieg and Karl Marthinsson.In his late twenties, Arne was invited to America to "teach the Americans how to ski." In August 1959 he came to Aspen, Colorado, with $32.00 in his pocket and a one way ticket, not speaking a word of English!" For those of you who knew him you might still wonder if he ever fully learned the language. He had agreed to stay for two years. Though, Aspen is a wonderful place to ski, it was the infamous summers that captivated his heart. In 1967 he married Joan Suzanne Petriak, and in 1975 they celebrated the birth of their daughter Lila Suzanne. The quiet spring off seasons made it a perfect opportunity to travel. It was the deserts of Arizona where he developed a great adoration for the game of golf. After many years in the mountains he surrendered to the call of the desert. In 1999 his love of golf and water brought him to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. As he takes his journey forward he leaves his wife Joan, daughter Lila, and his brother Svein, and many amazing friends and family all over the world. He was an amazingly patient, generous, and kind hearted man that will be dearly missed.
