Obituary of Raymond Anthony Zeller

Raymond Anthony Zeller passed away on September 26, 2015 at 84 years of age in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Raymond was born to Anthony and Elsie Zeller on November 9, 1930 in Elizabeth, NJ. Ray was a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Army where he defended our freedom in the Korean War as well as performing as a musician in the U.S. Army Band. He continued to be involved in the music industry for many years after his retirement as a professional musician, repairman and owner/operator of Bay City Music in San Diego, CA. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, hiking, bicycling, boating and snow skiing. He moved to Lake Havasu City in 1995 to enjoy his retirement years. He continued to work part time driving a school bus for the Lake Havasu City School District. Ray was a very active member of the Civitan Club where he worked with special needs children and assisted in the Special Olympics. He was a volunteer at Havasu Regional Medical City Auxiliary as well. He was an avid member of Free Masons for 50 plus years, Elks Lodge, VFW and the Desert Singles. Ray is survived by Carol Metzger, his long time companion of 15 years; sons, Allen Raymond Zeller (Sue) of Eagle Point, OR and William Henry Zeller (Patricia) of Barstow, CA; daughter, Diane Lynn Ast of Barstow, CA; sister, Joan DeStephan of Edison, NJ; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Elsie Zeller. Ray made a point of always keeping in contact and providing support to his family. He was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
