Pasquale "Pat" A. Bevando, 87, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born on April 8, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY, to Italian immigrant parents, Giuseppe and Carmela (Ciceli) Bevando and he started school not knowing one word of English, since his parents only spoke Italian,- however he soon learned. He was the second of 4 boys and times were hard, so Pat always invented ways to make money. He found a way to make Clorox in the bath tub and had a nice list of custom¬ers, until one day he made it too strong, and burned up all the clothes. He lost all his customers! From this he went into the CCC's and spent 2 years in Yellow Stone National Park, WY. There he was building roads and camp sites. Still in the CCC's he then went to the State of Washington as a lum¬berjack, and when he returned home he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1942 to 1946. Being in Europe he was able to go to Italy and see where his family had come from. When he returned from the war he mar¬ried and had children. He opened up a Bar & lounge in Brooklyn and one in Staten Island. Once they were going well, he had them managed. Pat al¬ways had a desire to drive a big rig and so he did, driving from State to State. From this venture he decided to go west and sold out the Bars and moved to California to Thousand Oaks where he met Carol. Pat and Carol married in September 1981, and then decided to move to Lake Havasu City, AZ. Pat worked at London Bridge Resort as maintenance supervisor for 10 years and then retired. Pat loved to joke and kid around and always had many friends. He was a very generous man and there will never be another one like him.Pat is survived by his loving wife Carol, daughters, Linda Colleo, Stacy Ruiz, Terri Castro; son Leon Bevando; step-daughter Delanda; step-son Spencer, step-daughter, Carletta; brother John Bevando, seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.A memorial service will be held at Lamb of God Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Words of wisdom and inspirations will be presented by Pastor Doug Bock.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pat's name to Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 2719 Inca Dr., Lake Havasu City, AZ, 86406Condolences and thoughts can be made to his family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
