JOSEPHINE ELIZABETH LAMPE SCHEIERJosephine Elizabeth Lampe Scheier passed away at her home in Lake Havasu City on Tuesday February 5, 2008 at the age of 92. Jo, as she was known to her family and friends, was born on December 1, 1915 in Ford County, Kansas to Joseph Bernard and Mary Barbara (Schmehr) Lampe.On December 30, 1940, Jo married Lawrence Anthony Scheier and began their life together in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In 1946 the family moved from to Santa Fe to the Grand Canyon where Lawrence worked for the Park Service. Aside from raising their 5 children, Jo also began practicing nursing while residing at the Grand Canyon. Upon Lawrence's retirement in 1968, the family moved to Lake Havasu City, where Jo became the nurse at Lake Havasu High School for the next 12 years.Jo always kept busy doing volunteer work for St. Vincent De Paul for many years. She also enjoyed sewing, making quilts and crocheting. Jo was also a caregiver to her many friends, whether it was for companionship, conversation or a warm meal. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.Jo is survived by her sons Michael Dean Scheier and his wife MarJune of Eagar, AZ., Donald Lawrence Scheier and his wife Janel of Flagstaff, Az., David Joseph Scheier and his wife Liz of Page, Az., daughter Mary Adelle Scheier of Boise, Id., and daughter-in-law Patrice Scheier of Meadow Lakes, Tx. Also surviving are Jo's grandchildren Tonia, Andrea, Preston, Gerald, Kendall, Joycelyn, Andrew, Sheridan, Heather, Jon and Jameson as well as her great grandchildren Crystal, Michael, Chanelle, Janelle, Daniel, Ryan, Nathan, Taylor, Skylar, Ambur, Nathan, Justin, Jacob, Jaycee, and Hunter.Jo was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Anthony Scheier, twin sons Carl Paul Scheier and Charles Joseph Scheier and son Dale Lewis Scheier. Rosary for Jo will be said on Saturday February 9, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church with a memorial mass following at 1:30 PM. Father Fidelis Igwenwanne will be offering words of comfort and inspiration.
