James Haskell Downing went to join our Lord on March 4, 2008 in Lake Havasu City, AZ; with his family by his side. Jim was born in Hartshorne, OK; on June 7, 1927. His family moved to Southern California when he was a youngster.Jim moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; 18 years ago from Apple Valley, CA. He owned and operated Downing Trucking in Victorville, CA; for 15 years. Jim was a wise businessman and loved family man.He leaves behind his loving family; wife, Jean; daughter, Dortha Smith; sons, Jim Jr. and Dennis Downing; step-son, Steve Cheever; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Jim will be greatly missed. His absence leaves a huge hole in the lives of his loved ones and many friends. Jim will be remembered for his warm loving ways.A Celebration of Jim's life will be held at l:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Sunset Hills Mortuary Park, 24000 Waalew Rd., Apple Valley, CA. In lieu of flowers, our family asks you to please perform a random act of generosity for a friend or family.
