Flora Sepel Sorensen, 88, passed away on April 23, 2008 at Lake Hills Inn, Lake Havasu City, AZ; after a twelve year battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on January 28, 1920 in McKeesport, PA. Growing up during the Depression years, as the youngest of five children, Flora was the only one to attain a high school diploma. Her older brothers and sisters had to work at early ages. During the second World War, she worked in the Bethlehem Steel Plant in Duquesne, PA; and also in a bakery. In 1944 Flora married her first husband, George John Sepel. In 1955 they moved to Southern California, where as a loving Mom, she continued to raise her two sons, George James (Jim) and Martin Van. Flora enjoyed cooking Hungarian foods, traveling playing the penny slots at the Colorado Belle, and playing pinochle cards. In 1983, George and Flora retired and moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ. In 1985 George suddenly passed away. Flora married Gunner Sorensen in 1991 and enjoyed several good years with Gunner, until symptoms of the Alzheimer's disease began. She was admitted to Lake Hills Inn in 2003, where she received excellent care. Flora is survived by Juneau, Alaska residence; son, George James (Jim) Sorensen, wife Joyce and family, Angie, Nate, Hayden, Sadie, Chris, grandson, James Darin Sepel, Darin's mom, Georgia Sepel; great granddaughter, Kara Nicole Sepel; sister, Clara Crossland; nephew, Lou Mazzotti and family in Nevada; niece, Emilia Thomas and family in Hawaii; and niece Clara Estelle Honse and family in Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by first husband, George Sepel; son, Martin Van, and second husband, Gunner.Flora was cremated and buried in Lake Havasu City, AZ.In lieu of flowers, her family has requested that donations be made in Flora's name to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
