Obituary of Harry MALLOY

Harry L. Malloy passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Havasu Regional Medical Center in Lake Havasu City, AZ; after a long battle with illness. He was born on May 27, 1929 in Halliday, ND; to Howard "H.L." and Hazel (Bayer) Malloy. Harry graduated from the University of North Dakota Law School in 1956 and started practicing law with his father in Halliday, ND. He served as States Attorney and County Judge for Dunn County and the Halliday City Attorney. Harry and his family moved to Dickson in 1962, where he had a private law practice until 1990, when he was appointed as Administrative Law Judge for the Department of Hearings and Apeals, U.S. Social Security Administration, in Fargo, ND; retiring in 2007.Harry served his country in the Korean War and received a battlefield commission to Lieutenant and was honorably discharged. He also served for many years in the North Dakota National Guard, retiring with the rank of Major.Harry loved to golf and snow ski and enjoyed the water, spending summers at his lake cottage on Lake Melissa, MN. He played college and semi-pro baseball and like to watch the Twins play on TV. Among his many personal accomplishments, he was proud of being Exalted Ruler of the Dickinson Elk's Lodge.Harry is survived by his wife, Carol Ann (Stroh) Malloy, sister, Janet (Ernie) Holt-Tompkins; son, Stephan (Sandra) Malloy; former wife, Lorraine (Wang) Malloy; their children, Holly Malloy-Hansen, Nancy Malloy, Howard (Lori) Malloy, Mitch (Faith) Malloy; and his step-children, Rebecca Jensen, Collin (Susan) Serhienko, Connie (Steve) Schaper; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jim Malloy and step-daughter Terry Rettig.Funeral services will be held at Perry Funeral Home, 4614 Memorial Highway, Madan, ND; on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow at the Bismarck Elks Lodge.
