Virginia Mae Jones was born 22 April 1924 in Meadville, PA. She was the only child of William and Frances Hahn. She passed away 5 July in Needles, CA.Virginia was raised in Hornell, NY, and graduated from Hornell High School in 1942. She then graduated from Geneseo State College, NY in 1945. Following graduation she taught 6th grade at the Jasper, NY; Central School. Virginia married Elwin Murray Jones from Jasper in June 1946 and they had 54 loving years together before his passing in 2000. During her married life she lived all over, as Elwin was a Marine Corps Fighter Pilot. In 1974 they retired to Lake of the Woods just outside Fredericksburg, VA and then relocated to Lake Havasu City, AZ in January 1992. During her retirement years she always spent time each summer with family on their New York family farm outside of Canisteo, NY. Virginia always loved to play golf and bridge as well as playing poker slots at the various local casinos. During her time in Lake Havasu City she and her husband had both been active until his passing with the Lake Havasu City Food Bank.Virginia is survived by her daughter, Sharyn Riddell from Coronado, CA; son, William from Savoy, IL; along with 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildrenVirginia will always be remembered by her family for her loving generosity and for all the wonderful berry pies she always made when the family was together on their New York property.Virginia will be buried beside her husband in Hornell, NY and the family will be having a private graveside service there in August.In lieu of flowers donations are requested to the Lake Havasu City Food Bank.Condolences and thoughts can be made to her family at www.lietz¬frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
