Harold Edgar Conroy Sr; 80 years old, passed away on July 23, 2008 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born on May 18, 1928 in Columbus, OH; to Albert F. and Mary K (Fatz) Conroy.Harold served in the Pacific with the U.S. Army, 11th Airborne from 1945 to 1947. After returning to the states he met his bride Adele Emmy Buck in Columbus, Ohio. They were married and moved to California, where he worked for the U. S. Postal Service for 27 years. Upon retirement Harold moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; from Pacoima, CA. He has resided in Arizona for the last 20 years.Harold was very proud to be an American. He was very active in the American Legion Post 81, a member of the V.F.W. Post 9401, and their Chaplain for 5 years, member of the 82nd All Airborne, Eagles Aerie 4299, and the past commander of the American Legion Post 817 in Panorama City, CA.Harold was a family man who loved his family dearly. He always made sure the kids had fun, whether it was boating, fishing, or camping with family and friends, a great time was had by all. Harold always had room for one more. His motto was "The more the merrier". Many will miss him.Harold is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Adele Conroy; sons, Harold (Butch) Edgar Conroy Jr. of Newhall, CA; Thomas Laurence Conroy of Arleta, CA; daughters, Mary Helene Cody of Graham, WA; Adele Emmny (DaDa) Engle of Brentwood, CA;Catherine Christine (Cathy) Rappleye of Newhall, CA; Dorothy Louise Huggs of Canyon Country, CA; Lucy Louise Riffle of Mooresville, NC; Patricia Laura Halstead of Columbus, TN; sisters, Norma Best of Fairfield, OH; Eileen Woodson of Marysville, OH; 29 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 3 on the way. He was preceded in death by his son Paul (Burgie) Franklin Conroy and sister Alberta Smith.A memorial service will be held at the Eagles Aerie 4299 on Monday, July 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with a potluck reception to follow.Condolences and thoughts can be made to his family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
