Obituary of Alfred WOODS

Alfred Joseph Woods passed away on August 10, 2008 in Lake Havasu City at the age of 82. Al, as he was known to his family and friends, was born on October 18, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York to Alfred and Gene (Ward) Woods.Following High School, Al enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country for almost 3 years, being honorably discharges as a signalman. Upon returning from military service, Al went into the family business, George Woods Shoring Company in Brooklyn, eventually becoming President of the business and retiring after 30 years.Al, his wife and family moved to Lake Havasu City 30 years ago from New York. They moved back to New York for a brief period. In 2005 made Havasu their permanent home.Al was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years. He enjoyed golfing, boating and traveled frequently in his younger years.Al is survived by his wife of 56 years Lila of Lake Havasu City; sons Alfred Woods of Rochester, New York, Joseph Woods of Stamford, New York, James Woods of Hicksville, New York and daughter Patricia Woods of Phoenix, Arizona, as well as 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 13, 2008 from 6 to 8 pm at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Rosary will be said at 7 pm during the visitation. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am Thursday August 14 at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church.
