Valeria Dorathea EickhoffFebruary 1, 1913 - October 20, 2008Valeria Dorathea Eickhoff, 95, died Monday, October 20, 2008 at the Lingenfelter Center in Kingman. She was born February 1, 1913 to Charles and Johanna (Muller) Eickhoff and grew up on their farm near Falls City, Neb.At age 21 she went to Omaha and worked for two years before relocating to California, working several jobs until employment at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in 1943. Laid off during the war, she was re-hired after a year and a half and continued until early retirement in 1975.She sold her home in LaHabra and in March, 1975 she moved into the home she planned and had built in Lake Havasu City, where she became a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church. In her retirement she enjoyed travel to British Columbia and Alaska, the South Pacific, New Zealand and Australia, southeast Africa, and the British Isles, as well as much of the United States. Desert gardening at her home and church and many craft activities were part of her life of leisure, until declining health forced to spend her last years in nursing homes in Lake Havasu City and Kingman.Val is survived by her brother, Ralph (Hilda) of Columbus, Neb; sister-in-law, Elva Eickhoff of Falls City Neb; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents and four brothers, Walter, Herbert, Carl and Herman Eickhoff preceded in her in death.A visitation will be held at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Wednesday, October 29, 2008. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Mel Soderberg at Mount Olive Lutheran Church on Thursday, October 30, 2008, 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the services at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens. Memorial gifts may be given to Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2170 Havasupai Blvd., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.Thoughts and condolences may be submitted to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
