DON BIEHNDon Biehn died peacefully at his Lake Havasu City home with his family at his bedside October 31, 2008. Don was born June 27, 1930, in Fairbury, Nebraska. He graduated from Niles Township High School in Skokie, Illinois in 1948. As a senior in high school, Don was selected for First Team All State honors as a pitcher for the school baseball team.Don was drafted by the Chicago Cubs but instead accepted a full ride baseball and academic scholarship to Rutgers University. After transferring to Northwestern University, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science in 1951. Don graduated cum laude and was president of his fraternity, Delta Epsilon.On August 16, 1952, Don married his high school sweetheart, Marcia Connell, of Morton Grove, Illinois.In 1954 Don obtained a law degree from the University of Nebraska. As a law student he was selected for membership in the Order of the Coif, a prestigious legal honor society.After being honorably discharged from the Army as a 1st Lieutenant, Don moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1957 to start his law practice. From 1966-1970 he served on the school board for the Lincoln Public School System. He also found the time to coach all three of his sons' little league baseball teams.In 1970 Don moved with his family to Lake Havasu City. He joined Wing Wachtel to form the law partnership of Wachtel and Biehn, now known as Wachtel, Biehn & Malm.Don Served two terms on the Lake Havasu City School Board from 1972 to 1980. Throughout the 1970's and 1980's he was active in the London Bridge Rotary Club and was a past president. Don also served two terms on the Board of Directors for the Lake Havasu Chamber of Commerce.Don was Lake Havasu City's first city attorney, serving in that capacity from 1978-1982. Don was a past president of the Mohave County Bar Association and served on numerous boards and panels for the Arizona State Bar Association. Throughout most of his legal career in Arizona, Don was given an AV rating by the legal publication Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating for competence and ethical standards conferred and a distinction that only a few lawyers in Mohave County's history have ever been given.Don was admired by his colleagues and the public alike for the countless clients he represented on pro bono basis.Don's legendary humor, and his simple and sometimes extraordinary acts and words of kindness, will be sorely missed.Don's last words were moments before his death when he squeezed Marcia's hand and whispered. "I love you." Don is survived by his wife, Marcia; his children, Steve Biehn, of Lake Havasu City, Michael Biehn of Studio City, California, Jon Biehn, of Lake Havasu City and Brooks Laskoski, of Bullhead City; his children's spouses, Beth Biehn, Gina Biehn, Vickie Biehn and Paul Laskoski; his grandchildren, Ashleigh Biehn, Jesse Biehn, Brennen Spratte, Sydney Spratte, Devon Biehn, Taylor Biehn, Caelan Biehn, Alex Biehn, Danyel Salamin, Jordan Laskoski and Jonathan Laskoski.No public services are planned.Thoughts and condolences can be sent to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
