"HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST"Jacob Raymond (Jake) Sigman, Sr., age 84 passed away November 6, 2008. He was born in Byesville, OH on March 23, 1924 to Raymond Sigman and Lillian Sigman Lapp. Jake was a World War II US Army veteran with honorable discharge. He received European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with Three Battle Stars, Bronze Star Medal was received from President Theodore Roosevelt for saving a life, Good Conduct, Combat Infantryman Badge and he received a Lapel Button on September 2, 1945. He was the Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Director of the Activities for the Second Baptist Church in Cambridge, OH.Jake was a Master Electrician for Ohio Power Co. in Cambridge, OH and took early retirement in 1964 and moved his family to Arizona for the health of his eldest daughter. He worked for Metropolitan Water District retired in 1972 and retired from San Diego University in 1986. Jake loved music, played the organ and harmonica and was an accomplished dancer. He loved restoring old cars, working with his hands and enjoyed golfing with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Juanita Sigman; son, Jacob Raymond Sigman Jr.; brother, James Sigman and sisters, Betty Larson and Eileen Gallena. He leaves behind his eight children, daughter, Dolores Ann (Donald) Sigman Mankin of Montclair, CA; son, Timothy Allen (Carol) Sigman of Devore, CA; daughter, Lillian "Lil" Sigman Dyer of Lake Havasu City, AZ; daughter, Marsha (Dan Head) Sigman Crawford of Parker, AZ; son, Fred (Sheryl) Sigman of Montclair, CA; son, James Rawlin (Meg) Sigman of Simi Valley, CA; daughter, Eleanor (Greg) Sigman Ricks of Bullhead City, AZ; brother Eddie Sigman; 23 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren."A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to show us, He Only Takes the Best."A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, 2:00 PM at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Words of comfort and inspiration will be offered by Pastor Bob Greene. Graveside services and military honors will be conducted at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA on Friday, November 14, 2008 at 12:30 PM.Thoughts and condolences may be submitted to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
