Joanne (Lowery) Caton 79, of Lake Havasu City, formally of Northfield MN; died Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the Havasu Regional Medical Center in Lake Havasu City, AZ. She was born March 19, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of James Hill Lowery and Juanita (Jordan) Lowery Cooper. Joanne grew up in the Des Moines area, where she attended public school and graduated from High School in 1948. After graduation she worked for an insurance company until her marriage to Roger Paul Caton on July 8, 1950 in Pope Joy, IA.They made their home there for approximately a year while Roger worked with his father doing carpentry. In 1951 they moved to Des Moines, IA. Roger worked for Wonder Bread before taking a job with General Motors. Joanne was a full time wife and mother to four children. She enjoyed being a homemaker and spent countless hours taking care of her home and children. In 1964 they moved to a small farm in Indianola, IA. Here she enjoyed life on the farm and gardening. She also spent many a summer day canning and freezing the garden produce with her children and father-in-law Matthew Caton. In 1968 Roger was transferred to Minneapolis, MN; with his job with General Motors. During this time they made their home in Prior Lake, MN; before moving to Northfield where they lived until their retirement. During this time Joanne worked for National Car Rental until they retired in 1982. They moved to Webster, SD; and lived there for a year before making a permanent move to Lake Havasu.Joanne was a member of Our Lady of The Lake Catholic Church. She enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends through email. Friends and family were always warmly greeted by her. She will be deeply missed by all.Survivors include her husband; two sons, Steven (Sue) Caton of Northfield, MN Douglas Caton, of Long Beach, CA; two daughters Linda (Terry) Sampson, of Watertown, SD and Rebecca (Jon) Nordstrom of Shakopee, MN; two sisters, Mary Turner of Kansas City, KS; and Sharon Adams of Yerington, N; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Eleanor Mabbett.Funeral Services will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel, Lake Havasu City, AZ; on Saturday December 13 at 3:00 p.m. Condolences and thoughts can be made to her family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
