Ruth Ann Birchett passed away on December 9, 2008 in Lake Havasu City at the age of 79. She was born on November 11, 1929 in St. Louis, MO to Edwin and Ann (Hoffmeister) Dittmar.Ruth, her husband Charlie and their four children became some of Havasu's first pioneers, moving here in 1964 from St. Louis, MO. Ruth was a very giving person. She was always lifting the spirits of everyone she met and enjoyed doing whatever she could to help others.Ruth loved the Christmas holiday so much that she starts getting ready months in advance. She loved garage sales, collecting 50's memorabilia, had a love of Hawaii and airplanes. She was blessed with an infectious smile, which in turn would make those around her smile. She also had an ear for music as she was able to play most any instrument. Ruth became involved with her "second family" at the Senior Center and could be found there just about every day. What made Ruth the happiest, was being with her family, her children, grandchildren, great grandchild and her dogs.Ruth was the owner and operator of Ruth's Second Hand store on Mc Culloch Blvd. for many years and was a member of the Eagles in Lake Havasu City.Ruth's smile, spirit and her love of life will live on in those who knew her.Ruth is survived by her sons, Wayne (Lynne) Birchett of Antioch, CA and Warren (Julie) Birchett of Lake Havasu City; daughter Brenda (Marty) Fischer of Lake Havasu City; grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, Brandon, Megan, Stacee, Breana, Skyler, Kaye, Carlo and Sabel, as well as her great granddaughter, Amaya. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Charlie who passed away in 1998 and her son Ward, who passed away in 1975.A celebration of Ruth's life will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Lake Havasu Senior Center. Rev. Richard Rounds will offer words of comfort and reassurance. Because of Ruth's love of Hawaii, the family requests that those wishing to attend, dress in Hawaiian attire.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ruth's name to the Lake Havasu Senior Center, 450 S.
