Eugene Edward McCabe, 83, passed away January 14, 2009 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born to John and Mary (Pettit) McCabe on July 30, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY.Gene, as he was known to his family and friends served proudly under the direction of the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He married his beloved bride, Gloria Brioli on January 15, 1948 and together they made Lake Havasu their home 29 years ago from East North Port, NY. Gene worked for the Long Island Railroad in Long Island, NY as a railroad engineer for more than 30 years. Gene was a hockey trainer for the Long Island Ducks and the Rovers and was a softball umpire. He enjoyed being a member of the Elks Lodge and once held the position of Exalted Ruler. He also belonged to the American Legion, VFW, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the Marine Corps League.Gene leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years, Gloria McCabe; daughter, Geri (Kevin) Lunz; brothers, Robert and Donald; grandchildren, Kerry and Adam and two great grandchildren, Amaya and Jada.Memorial services will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2009, 1:00 PM at the Elks Lodge.Thoughts and condolences may be submitted to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
