Willard passed away peacefully at his son's home in Lake Havasu City with family by his side on January 20, 2009 at the age of 81. He was born to Rev. Verdie and Mabel Allen July 15, 1927 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Willard was one of 10 children. His father Verdie Allen was a Minister and director of a homeless shelter, the Wheeler Mission in Indianapolis, Indiana during the depression. Coming from humble means Willard began working at a young age. He worked at a drugstore, Continental Bakery (i.e. Wonder Bread), and various other jobs until graduating High School. He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII, and joined the U.S. Army in 1946. He honorably served in Germany in the Constabulary (Military Police) until1948. After serving his country, Willard married his loving wife of 56 years, Damzel, who preceded him in death in 2004.Willard was owner of Will Allen Manufacturing, a direct marketing company he remained active in until the last six months of his life. Willard was self employed most of his life.Willard is survived by his two remaining siblings, Jared of CA, and Richard of TX; Sons Mark of Phoenix and Scott and his wife Kim of LHC and their children Cole (USAF), Andrea, Scotty, Jr., and Adrienne.Willard was a very strong and kind person. He had an inner sense of peace and confidence that was clear to everyone he knew. Willard truly lived by "The Golden Rule," helping those he could, and protecting those he loved. The world needs more people like Willard, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.Memorial services will be held Sunday, January 25, 2009, 1:30 PM at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Pastor John Sweeney will offer words of comfort and inspiration.
