Rev. Br. Philip John Pike, M.I.C., passed away on January 27, 2009 at his home in Bullhead City, AZ; at the age of 66. He was born on November 17, 1942 in Brockton, MA; to Francis E. and Ellen T. (McCarthy) Pike.Phil, as he was known to his many friends, was born into a loving family with eight children and Phil was the last surviving member of the Pike family. Upon graduation from Brockton High School in 1958, where he received National Honor Society Recognition, Phil entered the Massachusetts General Hospital School in Nursing, graduating with honors and in the top 10 of his class in 1961. After several years of nursing, he entered the Marian Fathers Religious Community for Priesthood studies at Holy Apostles Seminary and College in Cromwell, CT. He was ordained to the Deaconate by the Rev. Daniel Reilly on November 4, 1979, (his mother's birthday) at St. Francis Chapel on the campus of the college. Following ordination, Phil was stationed at St. Casamir's Parish in Worchester, MA; until illness forced his retirement in 1986. Phil was also a life member of the Knights of Columbus in Lake Havasu City, AZ. In 1988 Phil relocated to Lake Havasu City, AZ; where some longtime friends had resided. He went to work at Havasu Regional Medical Center as an ER Tech, where he was awarded the Doctor Paul Singer Award for outstanding service Phil also worked as a floral arranger at Lady Di's in Lake Havasu City, AZ; and was currently working at Bullhead City Florist. Phil also worked as a mortuary assistant for Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home for 10 years. Shortly after his brother Charles died in March of 2005, Phil moved to Fort Mohave, AZ; to live with Charles's wife, Joy. Philip is survived by his beloved nephew, Greg Branson and wife Cheryl of Fort Mohave, AZ; sister-in-law, Joy Pike of Fort Mohave, AZ; and his four legged pals, Tony and Gauge; friends, Bernice Lipper of Lake Havasu City, AZ; who was a second mom to Phil and her son David; dear life long friends Paul and Lucille Sedani of Brockton, MA; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary Ellen and brothers, Francis Jr. Charles, Henry, Russell and James.A visitation will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Friday, January 30, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary said at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at l0:00 a.m., with Father Chauncey Winkler officiating. Burial will take place at Melrose Cemetery in Brockton, MA.Phil has requested that donations be made to the Western Arizona Humane Society in memory of his two buddies, "ToTo" and "Patches".
