Jack Cecil Cowan passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2009 in Lake Havasu City, AZ; at the age of 85. He was born on February 25, 1923 in Alberta, Canada to Urie and Hester (Johnson) Cowan.Following graduation from high school, Jack enlisted in the United State Army, becoming a member of the 513th Parachute Infantry Regiment Headquarters Company 3rd. Battalion. He proudly served his country from July 7, 1943 to October 4, 1945. Following his military service, Jack began a lifelong career as a cost accountant in the plumbing and pipe industry. Growing up in Montana, Jack loved the outdoors. He enjoyed mountaineering and loved to fish, which led to him becoming a member of the Sierra Club. Jack moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; 18 years ago from Santa Maria, CA. In Lake Havasu he became a member of the Church of Christ, the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign War Post 9401.Jack is survived by his wife of 9 years, Juanita Cowan; daughters, Carmon Steven of San Diego, CA; Claudia Wescott (Ernie) of Lake Havasu City, AZ; Virginia Parker of Perris, CA; sisters, Frances Norton of Pendleton, OR; Faye Polly (Bill) of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Robert C. Steven III, Jonathan Jack Bankson (Tamara), Nicholas Alan Bankson, Alexandra Parker; and great granddaughter, Kate Bankson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lee Cowan; sister, Zella Wagner and grandson, Jeremy Cowan Steven. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Church of Christ, 3439 Oro Grande Blvd. at 11:00 a.m. with Minister Bill Reed offering words of comfort and inspiration.Condolences and thoughts can be made to his family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
