Lowell James Coley passed away on February 28, 2009 at his residence, at the age of 95. He was born on February 6, 1914 in Sayre, OK; to William and Myrtle (Jones) Coley.In 1935 at the age of 21, Lowell left Oklahoma with a little more than 3 dollars to his name. He began hitchhiking west, seeking whatever kind of work he could find and surviving off the kindness and generosity of strangers. Lowell eventually made it to California, where he worked in many different fields. He worked for several years in Orange County, as a Deputy Sheriff and completed his working career as a maintenance mechanic for Quaker State Oil in Anaheim, CA. Lowell and his wife Beatrice made Lake Havasu City, AZ; their home 19 years ago moving here from Penn Valley, CA. Among his many hobbies were fishing, hunting and coin collecting.Lowell is survived by his daughters; Lorena Moulin and Marlene Hoops, both of Orange, CA; step-daughter, Carol Graham of Truckee, CA; step-sons, Larry Kinard of El Cajon, CA; Kenneth Kinard of Van Burrow, AR; brother, Bill Coley of Hemet, CA; 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Beatrice who passed away in July of 2005 and brothers, Lawrence Coley, Lee Coley and Ray Coley. Funeral services will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.
