Joseph Allen Buckbee passed away on March 5, 2009 at the age of 73, following a half year long battle with cancer. He was born on April 27, 1935 in Waterville, IA; to Leo and Dagny (Unseth) Buckbee.A short time resident of Lake Havasu City, AZ; Joseph came here to be with his family, knowing his end was near. At the age of 16, Joseph joined the U.S. Navy, beginning a career that would span more that 20 years. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War, retiring in 1972 as a Senior Chief. Joseph then went to work at Georgetown University as a new construction inspector for the campus and remained there for 20 years. Never to stay idle, if he saw something that needed to be fixed, he would fix it, even if it wasn't his. Joseph maintained his life long membership with the Veterans of Foreign War, American Legion, Elks Lodge and the Fleet Reserve.Joseph is survived by his daughters; Joanne Van Duyne and Juanita Craft both of Lake Havasu City, AZ; sons, Kevin Buckbee of Manhattan, NY; Joseph Buckbee of Bakersfield, CA; sister, Norma Hurley of Nanjemoy, MD; grandson, Joshua Lopez and 2 great-grandchildren, Anastasia Lopez and Joshua Lopez Jr. Joseph is lifted to Heaven, where he will be safely in the arms of his little angel, daughter, Janice Allen Buckbee, who passed away on February 21, 1963 at the age of 3.Donations can be made in Joseph's name to Hospice of Havasu, P.O.
