Dorothy Hubbert, age 94, went to be with her Lord on Friday, March 27, 2009 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. She was born on June 5, 1914 to Thomas and Anna Goode in Aroura County, South Dakota, where she lived until completing high school. Dorothy moved to Los Angeles, CA; in 1935, where she met and married her life long partner, Leo Hubbert, a Los Angeles City Fireman, in 1937. She and the family moved to Torrance, CA; in 1956 and resided there until 1993, when she and Leo moved with her daughter Virgnia and Steve Buckalew to Lake Havasu City, AZ. Dorothy had no formal education after high school, but she was well educated in the school of life and in the Bible. She loved the Lord and had a wonderful servant's heart. She loved her family and her God.Dorothy was a Scout leader, Camp Fire Girls leader and Sunday school teacher for all of her children. She was a member of the Los Angeles Firebells for many years and she organized and started in Torrance, CA; Meals on Wheels program, where she served as a volunteer for 25 years. Dorothy loved to garden and was known in the neighborhood as the lady with the most beautiful yard and flower gardens. She was an awesome Mom and Gramma and will be dearly missed.Dorothy is survived by her three children and their spouses, Tom and Marilyn Hubbert of Albuquerque, NM; Virginia and Steve Buckalew of Lake Havasu City, AZ; and Michael and Leslie Hubbert of Boonville, CA; 8 grandchildren and their families, Tera Brooks, Gina Cabrera, Rene Cipres, Sean Hubbert, Ian Hubbert, Christopher Hubbert, Cora Hubbert, Amalia Hubbert; 11 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Leo Hubbert, her parents and her three sisters and two brothers. She was the last of the "Goode Girls" as she and her sisters always called themselves.A Celebration of her Life will be planned by her family in the near future. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Focus on the Family ministries in Colorado Springs, CO. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Hospice and Casa Grande Assisted Living in Lake Havasu City, AZ; for their constant love and care of our dear Momma and Gramma, during the last year of her life.Condolences and thoughts can be made to her family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
