Obituary of Angeline Alice CARPENTIERI

Please share a memory of Angeline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Angeline Marie Alice Savard Carpentieri passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 7, 2009 at the age of 93. Angeline was born the middle child of 18 on May 8, 1915 on the north shore (La Cote Nord) of the Saint Lawrence River in Godbout, Quebec, Canada to Joseph Savard, a Metis trapper, and Marie Angele Hervieux a Montagnais Indian. Her school years were spent at the local convent where she developed a love for reading and a passion for dress design. Being artistic by nature and hungry to travel she left La Cote Nord and moved to Montreal where she began working in the fashion industry as a seamstress. During World War II Angeline worked at a bomb factory and as a seamstress making parachutes. After the war Angeline resumed her work in the fashion industry and eventually traveled to Europe to study French design. Returning to Montreal Angeline went into business for herself designing and creating haut couture dresses and accessories for her clients. She met her husband, Vincent Carpentieri, in Montreal and the couple married in 1958 and moved to New York where they had two children, John and Peter. As a homemaker Angeline was still able to fulfill her artistic passion through creating gourmet meals, designing and making dresses for friends, and creating Halloween costumes for her children. Vincent passed away in 1979 after 21 years of marriage. In 1985 Angeline moved to Lake Havasu City where her sons lived. She aided in the design of the home she built and began her new life in the desert. Her involvement with Women's Aglow and Christian Women led her to fulfill a lifelong dream of visiting the Holy Land where she was baptized in the Jordan River.Angeline is survived by her loving sons, John (Angie) and Peter (Cindy) and was beloved grand mere to Allie, Alex and Airen. As an artist, a married woman, a mother, and a pilgrim, Angeline lived a full life fulfilling her dreams. In death she will reunite with those loved ones who have passed. The Carpentieri family would like to thank all those who helped Angeline during her illness, especially Dr Hade and his staff, Dr Prater and his staff, Nancy and Kristy of At Your Service and all the wonderful nurses, aids and volunteers at Hospice.A Scripture Service will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Tom Coe officiating.
