James Matthew "Matt" Stephenson passed away June 2, 2009 in Lake Havasu City, AZ at the age of 53. He was born on May 26, 1956 in Anchorage, AK.Matt had worked for Mohave Mental Health Clinic as a Behavioral Health Technician for the past eight years. He had been a DJ for 30 years; first in Alaska, Los Angeles and then Lake Havasu City. Matt was the owner of Goodtime DJ's and had worked for the local radio station 12 years ago. He had also been the DJ at Havasu Lanes every Friday and Saturday night for "Rock & Bowl" for the last 10 years. Matt really enjoyed the outdoors and was proud of being a CCW instructor. He will be greatly missed by his pets, Pezz, Ziggy, Adobe and Snickers.Matt leaves behind his beloved wife, Denise J. Stephenson of Lake Havasu; mother, Jeanne Wright of Texas; step-son, Gregory (Ashley) Allison of Lake Havasu; step-brother, Richard Wright; sister, Dena step-sisters, Sue and Pat and his granddaughter, Jade, who referred to him as "Nanook".He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Donald Stephenson and step-father, Wiley Wright.Memorial services will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2009, 1:00 pm at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Matt's name to the Arizona Kidney Dialysis Hypertension Center in care of Dr. Mischler, 4203 E. Indian School Rd., Suite 140, Phoenix, AZ 85018 or the Western Arizona Humane Society, 1100 Empire Dr., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86404.Thoughts and condolences may be submitted to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
