Bernice (Bonnie) Tomes, age 88 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. She was born in Buffalo, NY. to Harold and Edna O'Mara.
Bonnie and her late husband Tom moved to Lake Havasu City in 1979 from Conn. After Tom's passing in 1981 Bonnie kept busy. She enjoyed working at the old Wal-mart in the jewelry department for 10 years. After retirement she became involved with the VFW, Elks Auxiliary and the Hospital Auxiliary where she worked in the gift shop and front desk. She also volunteered at the Senior Center before she got ill. Bonnie was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, the Eagles and a local Red-Hat Society. She enjoyed going to happy hour, playing Skip-Bo, Bingo and watching TV game shows. She also volunteered as an election clerk for many years.
Bonnie continues to be the beloved Mother of daughters, Donna (Bob) Viadella of Santa Maria, CA and Barbara (Ron) Gryde of Huntsville, AL. She is survived by her grandchildren, Sheryl Vance and Kristine Bradberry; great-grandchildren, Kevin, Sarah, Rachel, Aaron, Joshua, Matthew, Andrew; her favorite brother Richard (Marie) O'Mara along with nieces' and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her beloved sister, Dorry Fandl and long time companion Lyle Russell who passed away in November.
Bonnie will be dearly missed and loved by her family and her many friends but we know she is in a better place with our Heavenly Father.
