Rodney Rust passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Havasu Regional Medical Center in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Now he is with his Savior, after fighting a courageous battle with lung and liver cancer. Rodney was born on August 3, 1940 in Rice Lake, WI; to Harold and Ethel Rust. After graduating from Cumberland High School, he served four years in the United States Marine Corps.Rodney married Sharon Jean Webster on July 24, 1964 in Cumberland, WI. From 1962 to 1967 he worked route sales in Victorville, CA; and St. Paul, MN. After graduating from Control Data Institute in Minneapolis, MN, in 1968, he worked for several computer companies in Springfield and Chicago, IL; St. Paul, MN; Hudson, NH; and Laguna Niguel, CA. His computer years were interrupted by a short stint as a liquor salesman out of Denver, CO.Rodney's next career move took him to Lake Havasu City, AZ; in 1989 where he sold real estate. In 1996 he realized a life long ambition of becoming a small business owner when he purchased his first convenience store in Parker, AZ. After several years he added a second store. Rodney retired in 2008 when he sold both stores and he and Sharon spent the next few months traveling.Rodney was a past member of the Parker Chamber of Commerce and had served as treasurer of the Eagles Club in Parker.Rodney is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; mother, Ethel Rust of Cumberland, WI; son, Aaron Rust and wife Anne; and granddaughters, Elena and Selah Rust all of Lexington, KY; son, Keith Rust of Flagstaff, AZ; sisters, Barbara Stauner of Rice Lake, WI; Beverly Stearns and husband Rex of Mahtomedi, MN; Bonnie Radcliff and husband Dennis of Osceola, WI; brother, Richard Rust and wife Diane of Menomonie, WI; sister-in-law, Patricia Rust of Lake Havasu City, AZ; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Rust; brother, Roger Rust and grandparents.Condolences and thoughts can be made to his family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
