Hannelore "Lorie" H. Aceto7/03/1931 - 1/08/2010Born July 3,1931in Wiesbaden, Germany, the oldest of 2 girls born to Friedrich Martin Homeier and his wife Barbara (Pfeifer). Lorie apprenticed as a Photo Lab Technician, and immigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in 1956 and from there in 1957 to Maryland to be closer to her younger sister, Ann H. Finsterwalder and her only nephew,John R. Picot.Lorie started working for the Office of Photographic Services of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C., and worked herself up through the ranks to the position of Deputy Director OPPS (Office of Printing & Photographic Services), from which she retired in October of 2003 after working for the Institute for 32 years. Upon her retirement, she moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ., again to be close to her sister Ann and her husband Hans Finsterwalder. Lorie is survived by her sister, Ann H. Finsterwalder and brother-in law Hans; beloved nephew, John R. Picot of Richardson, Tex.; daughter and granddaughter of the heart Christine Biagi-Coleman, Samantha Biagi, and baby Danika Marissa Lorie Stifle. She was preceded in death by her parents.Lorie left a lot of good friends behind when she made her move to Lake Havasu City; however, she soon made numerous friends here in Havasu, and will be dearly missed by all her walking buddies at Rotary Park.Lorie fought a valiant fight against lung cancer, and our deep gratitude goes to Dr. O'Neill and nurses, Lisa & Carrie, who answered her every question and took marvelous care of her. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lorie's name to New Hope Hospice of Lake Havasu City, AZ, 500 N. Lake Havasu Ave., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403 or to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church BTOC, 1975 Daytona Dr., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.A memorial mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Words of comfort and inspiration will be presented by Father Chauncey Winkler.An inurnment is planned for sometime in the spring at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, MD, where she will find her final resting place next to our beloved mother.
