Helen Johanna McCullough passed away on Thursday, April 8, 20l0 in Lake Havasu City, AZ., at the age of 77. She was born to John and Johanna (Jus) Kiloh of New York City, New York on December 24, 1932.Helen attended Wagner College in Staten Island, New York, where she graducated Magna Cum Laude with her bachelors degree. Helen moved out to the west coast and most recently worked for her son, Dr. John D. McCarthy Jr., as a medical secretary in Hacienda Heights for 20 years.Helen and her husband, Mac, moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ., six years ago from Carlsbad, CA. While in Carlsbad, they were members of the Carlsbad Newcombers Club. In Lake Havasu City, Helen and Mac were members of the Community Presbyterian Church, London Bridge Yacht Club, where she was part of the "Knottie Girls Club", Red Hat Society and the American Association of University Women. Helen loved to travel, taking trips in the R.V., yachting and enjoying an occasional crossword puzzle. Helen is survived by her loving husband Leo "Mac" McCullough; sons, Dr. John D. McCarthy and his wife Mary; Robert C. McCarthy and his wife Sharon; James D. Emery and his wife Carla and Leo R. McCullough; daughters, Gail J. Lynn and her husband Douglas; Mary E. King and her husband Ken; Donna M. Cox and her husband Kent; Teresa J. Holdren and Anne M. Franklin; brother, Donald J. Kiloh and 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John D. McCarthy, as well as her parents, John and Johanna Kiloh.A Celebration of Life for Helen, will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Dale Ray will offer words of comfort and inspiration.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Helen's name to Hospice of Havasu, Polidori House, 1970 Bahama Ave. Lake Havasu City, AZ. 86403Condolences and thoughts can be made to her family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
