Obituary of Roger Dale Olson

St. Paul, "I fought the good fight"; as did Roger by being a faithful Catholic. Roger fought a courageous five-year battle with Melanoma. Roger started his life in Minnesota and transplanted with his family when he was 14 to Spokane, Washington. Roger participated in most all sports at Mead High; however, lettered in track. He served nine years in the Army National Guard of Washington State. Roger had a wonderful career of 41 years with Kaiser Aluminum Reduction Works. After Roger's retirement, he enjoyed attending many a Catholic retreat, traveling, gardening, entertaining, boating and enjoying the Arizona back roads with some of his dearest friends. Roger is preceded in death by his 4 siblings: Audrey, Avis, Leland, Bryon and son, Steve. Roger is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his three sisters, Velma Nilsen, Naomi Schafer and Joyce Holm; children, Joy Olson, Terese (Eric) Steven, Tracie (Craig) Wilds, Todd Lindsay and Tabrina Lindsay, 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In memory of Roger, please donate to the Toilolo family and/or The Zaria Mission, both can be directed to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. A rosary at 10:30 a.m. and Memorial Holy Mass at 11:00 a.m. with reception to follow will be at Our Lady of the Lake on Friday, December 4th.
