Please share a memory of Alicia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alicia L. Giago, 79, of Lake Havasu City, passed away June 30, 2010. She was born September 9, 1930 in East Orange, New Jersey, and was a 27 year resident of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Alicia graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science and became a teacher in Phoenix. She most recently taught at Oro Grande Elementary school in Lake Havasu. Alicia married William Joseph Giago on October 25, 1958. They met in Wounded Knee, South Dakota and lived on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Alicia and Bill later moved to Phoenix, Arizona and then to Lake Havasu City. Alicia retired in 1995 and spent much of her time helping less fortunate people through missions all over the world with donations. She also was fluent in Spanish, helping local families that spoke no English with translations. Alicia gave free Spanish lessons to those that needed it. She was a devout Catholic and spent time as a Nun before hearing a new calling to marry and raise a family. Alicia is survived by her husband Bill Giago; 5 children, Christina Scherkenbach (Carl), Madonna Licht (Ed), David Giago, Annemarie Tucker (Michael), and Ramona Goodsell (Kelly); grandchildren Carrie, J.R. Aaron, Logan, Tristan and Nicholas; and great grandchild Aaron William II. Alicia's passing will leave a hole in our hearts that will never heal, but we know she goes to a better place, and will be reunited with those who preceded her in death, father John W. Bailey, mother Alice Reilly Bailey, brothers Daniel Bailey and David Bailey. We will remember her with love and laughter until we see her again. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm, Tuesday, July 6, at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home, 21 Riviera Blvd., Lake Havasu City, AZ. Mass will be held at 10 am, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Lake Havasu City on Wednesday, July 7, 2010.Thoughts and condolences may be submitted to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory
