Julius P. "Joe" CurryJulius P. Curry passed away on July 20, 2010 in Prescott, AZ at the age of 79. Joe, as he was known to his family and many friends, was born on February 9, 1931 in Mangham, LA to Perry and Ova (Linda) Curry.Joe and his wife Avon moved to Arizona in 1962 from Hobbs, NM, first settling in Kingman. Two years later in 1964, they re-located to Lake Havasu City becoming some of the city's first pioneers. Joe worked in road construction and helped pave the many roads around Lake Havasu City. He also contributed to the construction of the London Bridge. In the mid 1960's, Joe and his family did a lot of camping and boating in Lake Havasu. He also enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. Following Avon's passing in December of 2001, Joe moved to Ash Fork to live with his daughter, Rebecca. Joe lived in Ash Fork the past 6 years until his passing in Prescott.Joe was a past member of the Desert Hills Baptist Church and also the First Southern Baptist Church. He was also a volunteer member of the Desert Hills Fire Department.Joe is survived by his sons Bo Curry of Cordes Junction, AZ and Glenn Williams and his wife Annie of Kingman, AZ; daughters Rebecca Woods of Ash Fork, AZ, Judy Marshall and her husband Ken of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Barbara Rix and her husband Dan of Boise, ID as well as eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.Visitation will be held on Sunday July 25, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Funeral services will be held the following day, Monday, July 26 at 10:00 AM at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Pastor Ed Wyatt will provide words of comfort and inspiration. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 81 and VFW Post 9401.
