Obituary for Calvin Grant TinslevAugust 21, 1924 - August 8, 2010Calvin "Grant" Tinsley was born in Salem, Oregon on August 21,1924 to Gilbert and Hilda Tinsley and passed away in Lake Havasu City, AZ on August 8, 2010.He joined the military as a young man and served in World War II in China, Burma and India with the Flying Tigers of the 529th Fighter Squadron. His lifelong friendship with his fellow soldiers was very important to him and he always looked forward to their annual reunions with great anticipation.Most of his career was spent in Washington State where he worked as a cattle brand inspector. Following that, he worked in Seattle, WA at Valley General Hospital in the Engineering Department and in later years, as a concierge at One Pacific Tower.He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Lila and his two brothers, Kenneth and Gilbert. He is survived by one sister, Roberta Neeley; three daughters, Pamela Homer, Connie Baker and Randie Nelson; one step-daughter, Gail Simmons; nine grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.He was a positive force in the lives of his family and his many friends. He will always be remembered for his story-telling and joking and love of laughter. He never lost his zest for life and remained optimistic to the end. He often expressed his love of Arizona and his years in Lake Havasu City were some of the happiest of his life.At his request, there will be no funeral service. There will be a gathering to celebrate his life to be announced at a later date.
