Linda Carol (Idso) Smarr
On the morning of June 26, 2014, Linda passed peacefully into the arms of God. She was 63 years of age and last resided in Golden Valley, Arizona.
Linda was born in Santa FE, New Mexico on November 3, 1950, the eldest of six children, to the late Paul Idso and Norma Idso.
The daughter of an Army Sergeant Major, Linda's journey took her all across our great country and abroad, where her love of nature and travel shaped her ability to see beauty in even the smallest of things. She lived several years of her life in northern Virginia and was a graduate of George Marshall High School.
In 1970, she married her true love, Stephen, who was her partner and best friend throughout her life and who joined her in Heaven shortly after her passing. Linda raised two children, Augusta and Brian, as well as a house full of cats, dogs, hamsters and more over the years as the adventures continued.
Second only to her love for family, Linda rejoiced in nature, animals and spending time outdoors. An avid photographer, she had an eye for capturing the beauty in nature, often reflected in the photographs of sunsets, flowers and animals she took. Her smile and spirit always radiant, Linda embraced all of the natural wonderments of nature and God's gifts. She loved and was deeply loved in return.
Linda also enjoyed cooking, ever passionate to try and share new recipes. She enjoyed gardening, reading, camping and traveling. With a love for the wilderness, Alaska was one of her favorite places to visit and explore. She was also especially good at winning at Bingo.
Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Linda is survived by her daughter Augusta, son Brian, sisters Barbara, Debra, Charlotte and Sandra and grandchildren, Elvis and Sterling. She is deeply missed and will always be in our hearts.
A celebration of Linda's life will be held for family and friends in New Mexico during Christmas time, her favorite holiday. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Lung Cancer Alliance.
