Obituary of Virginia COATES

Virginia May Coates passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at her home at the age of 84. She was born on December 1, 1925 in Lehi, UT to John and Hazel (Johnson) Comer.Virginia moved to Lake Havasu City 36 years ago from Santa Monica, CA. Prior to living in California, she lived in the Washington DC area, working as an accountant for the Department of Navy.Virginia was a life member of VFW Post 9401 Ladies Auxillary where she helped drive the patients to and from the VA Clinic, doctors and hospital. She was also a member of the Eagles, American Legion Post 81, Elks Lodge and the Lake Havasu City Drinking and Carousing Society for Ladies. She loved traveling the United States, including Alaska in their RV and also a good portion of Mexico and Canada.Virginia is survived by her companion of 25 years Walter Bourland; son Steven Coates of Newbury Park, CA; brother Glen Comer of North Hollywood, CA and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Victor Coates who passed away in 1984, daughter Darlene Montoya, Brother Jack Comer and sisters Ruth and Phyllis.Donations in Virginia's name may be made to Hospice of Havasu for their incredible love and compassion.
