Clifford W. Freer passed on Friday, January 7, 2011 in Lake Havasu City, AZ at the age of 82. He was born to DeWitt and Clara (Decker) Freer on April 20, 1928 in New Salem, NY. Cliff grew up in New York and worked in the fire service at the East Meadow Fire Department, moving up through the ranks eventually becoming the Fire Chief. In 1974 the family moved from Long Island to Lake Havasu City where Cliff then began a 21 year career with the McCulloch Corporation. While working for McCulloch, he worked a second job as a heavy equipment / crane operator and was involved in the construction of many buildings. He also was owner of Stylecraft Boats.Among his hobbies were gunsmithing, woodworking and building and assembling HO trains. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was very active in volunteering at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church.Clifford is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan; four children J. Clifford of Lake Havasu, Michael and his wife Wenndi of Enciniatas, CA, Gloria of Mesa and Robert and his wife Sandy of Lake Havasu; sister Bernadine Turso of New City, NY and nine grandchildren, Clifford, Christopher, Matthew, Heather, Brandon, Natalie, Margaret, Blaze and Elliott.He was preceded in death by his parents DeWitt Freer and Clara Coughlin.A visitation will take place on Thursday evening, January 13, 2011, 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. A Rosary will be said on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 10:30 AM followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church. Interment will take place after the Mass at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.
